Dr: Harper: Orthodontics has to do with the movement of the teeth and reshaping of the jaws and the supporting structure of the teeth to better align the teeth. That's basically what Ortho consists of. We offer three types of orthodontic treatment in our office, a full comprehensive Ortho, which is our long-term orthodontics treatment lasting anywhere from 12 to 24 months or more. Then we offer six months smiles, which is adult, short-term orthodontics, where our main objective is to align and straighten the front teeth. We don't try to change any bony structure or make major changes to the face, the patient just wants nice, straight teeth. We get in within a period of six to nine months, straighten their teeth, put some form of retention in place, and then we're through. And then the third kind is the removable orthodontics such as Invisalign or Clear Correct where you can use a series of aligner trays to move the teeth. The patient has the choice of putting those in or taking those out for special occasions. So just depending on what the patient wants as far orthodontic treatment. So we offer all three different types of orthodontics here in our office. One of the benefits of orthodontic treatment, not only that you have the cosmetic benefit of straight, pretty teeth, pretty smile, but you also have the health benefits that go along with that. Because when teeth are properly aligned and the jaws are properly positioned, you have better tongue position, you have better breathing, which can lead to less problems with TMJ, temporomandibular joint problems later on, better breathing patterns, which sleep apnea is one of the things that cause people to have lots of health issues. And so with better teeth and jaw positioning, you have less incidence of TMJ problems and obstructive sleep apnea. Angi: I actually started coming to Elite Dental eight years ago. I had to have periodontal support therapy and Dr. Harper did it with conscious sedation so there was no pain. It was a very pleasant experience and before coming here, I was really nervous about going to the dentist, didn't really like it and I don't know very many people who do. But like I said, I've been here for eight years and now, I actually every four months. It's a great place. There's no pain. Everybody is nice and accommodating and I've had a really good experience here. I had a family member who came here and was very pleased with them and he was very adamant that there was no pain in any of the procedures and that what drew me here. The staff are very good. They're very accommodating and very friendly. They will call you and remind you and send text alerts, and everyone is just really nice and very patient with you. In any procedure I've had, everybody has been just real patient and kind and caring. About a year and a half ago, I got the six months smile, which is braces. I don't know that I really was in dire need of braces but I did want to improve my smile and it did greatly. Well, I think that having a pretty smile, a nice smile is very important to everybody especially when I sell real estate so it's probably one of the things that people look at a lot and it just gives you a lot more confidence to have a nice smile. Well, before coming here, I was actually very nervous about going to a dentist. My teeth are very sensitive and even cleaning my teeth, I would have pain or what I perceived as pain. But coming here, I've never experienced that even with a simple filling, getting a shot is not painful. Through my cleanings, I get nitrous gas and it's not painful at all and I enjoy coming. I would highly recommend Elite Dental and I have in the past and they're a great staff. Everyone is friendly and nice and accommodating and there's no pain with the procedures and they really take care of you.
