Smiling woman after getting veneers

Do you find yourself hiding your smile because you feel self-conscious about your teeth?

Drs. Mark Harper, Clint Buchanan, and Mike Farrar can conceal your dental flaws and help you feel confident about your smile with veneers.

Find out why veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic treatment options at our practice, headquartered in Jackson, TN...

3 Reasons Why You Will Love Your Veneers

Veneers work for a wide range of dental imperfections such as chips, cracks, discoloration, misalignment, and more. Depending on your needs, we can treat a single tooth or all of your most visible teeth. We listen to your unique goals and customize your procedure to achieve the results you desire.

If you have an upcoming event you want to look your best for, veneers might be an excellent solution. Compared to other forms of cosmetic dentistry, veneer treatment is fast and easy. The procedure usually takes two office visits and can be completed in just a few weeks.

Our veneers consist of high-grade porcelain that is made to look indistinguishable from tooth enamel. Your dentist will carefully design your veneers to blend in with the size, shape, and color of surrounding natural teeth. When we finish with treatment, no one will be able to tell your smile is anything other than natural.

See The Results For Yourself

One of the main concerns our patients have about veneers is that their teeth might appear bulky or unnatural. However, our skilled cosmetic dentists take every measure to create veneers that look incredibly lifelike. Check out the results we provided to one of our Jackson, TN, patients and decide for yourself:
Before porcelain veneers treatment
Before This patient's teeth were tarnished by dark stains that did not respond to whitening. The front teeth are also wide in proportion to the rest of the upper arch.
After porcelain veneers treatment
After A set of porcelain veneers improved the shape and balance of the upper teeth and made the patient's smile a stunning shade of white.

I was extremely satisfied with my experience. I got a quick appointment, the entire staff was very pleasant and professional, the hygienist was terrific, and the dentist explained very well what treatment I needed. I got two appointments for that in a timely fashion as well.

A Closer Look at Dental Veneers

A dental veneer is a thin porcelain shell that we bond to the enamel on the front surface of your tooth. The veneer improves the shape and color of the tooth and masks common flaws like cracks and intrinsic stains.

Am I A Good Candidate for Treatment?

While dental veneers work for many of our patients in the greater Jackson, TN, region, some factors can affect your candidacy:

Oral Health

It is important to have good oral health before undergoing cosmetic dentistry. During your consultation, we will examine your smile and check for signs of periodontal disease and tooth decay. If needed, we will schedule restorative treatments to get your oral health in optimal condition.

Enamel Thickness

Before we place a veneer, we must remove a small layer of enamel.  Thin or eroded enamel may disqualify you as a veneers candidate. If this is your case, we may recommend an alternative procedure like dental crowns that cap the entire tooth and protect the structure.

While dental veneers can correct minor misalignment, they are not the best choice for enhancing the appearance of severely crooked teeth. Depending on the degree of your misalignment, you may be better suited for orthodontic work, which can also correct the position of your bite.

Veneers are considered a permanent treatment. While they eventually need to be replaced after about a decade, they require permanent alteration of your natural tooth structure, so the tooth will always require some kind of restoration. If you are looking for something more temporary, or just want an affordable way to determine if you would eventually like to receive veneers, we usually recommend dental bonding.

What Happens During Treatment?

Once we have confirmed your candidacy and you decide you would like to move forward with veneers, you can expect:

We begin treatment by crafting a wax model of your dental veneers to show you a preview of the results. The planning phase is a collaborative process where we encourage feedback and suggestions to improve upon the initial design. Your dentist will gladly make changes to the mock-up until you are completely satisfied.

Tooth Preparation

Once you approve of the wax model, we will start preparing your teeth. Your dentist will carefully remove a small amount of enamel to make room for the veneers so that they lay flush with adjacent teeth.

Next, we take impressions of your smile and design the veneers to the specifications of each tooth. We send the designs to our partner dental lab, where technicians handcraft the shells out of premium dental porcelain. Since this meticulous production process can take a few weeks, we can place temporary veneers to cover your teeth while you wait.

When your porcelain veneers are ready, we will schedule you back for the last steps of your treatment. Your dentist will remove the temporary veneers and lightly etch the enamel to ensure your veneers properly adhere to the surface.  Finally, we apply special dental cement to your teeth and carefully bond the porcelain veneers in place.
Did you know we can incorporate additional techniques like whitening and gum contouring into your veneer treatment? It's called a smile makeover, and we can create a custom treatment just for you.

Porcelain Veneers FAQ

Our Jackson-headquartered practice believes patient education is essential. We invite you to explore the answers to a few of the most frequent porcelain veneers questions our patients ask:

How much do veneers cost?

Since veneer treatment is completely customized, it is difficult to provide a cost estimate without first seeing you for a consultation. The total cost will depend on several factors, like the number of teeth you wish to treat, additional preparatory treatments, and sedation. While insurance plans do not cover cosmetic procedures, our practice does accept financing through CareCredit® to help make veneers more affordable.

Is the procedure painful?

Most patients find dental veneers treatment to be virtually painless. However, we understand that everyone has different levels of sensitivity and anxiety when it comes to dental treatment. To ensure your comfort, we can offer sedation dentistry to induce a state of deep relaxation before the procedure.

How do I maintain my porcelain veneers?

You should care for your porcelain veneers in many of the same ways you care for your natural teeth. Brush your teeth twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and floss at least once a day. Avoid biting on anything abnormally hard, like ice cubes or toffee, which can potentially crack or chip the porcelain shells.
