You've tried over-the-counter dental treatments like whitening toothpaste and generic whitening strips. Still, you can't seem to maintain the results. Even worse, you might not even notice a difference at all.

That may be because you're not going to the right place for your teeth whitening treatments. Your dentist is trained to properly apply powerful in-office treatments and direct you through at-home whitening.

Teeth Whitening Info to Know

What Causes Yellowed or Discolored Teeth?

We may be born with a set of pearly whites, but over time they can become yellowed or discolored.

Some of the extrinsic factors that change the color of your enamel include:

  • Drinking tea, coffee, soda, or red wine
  • General aging
  • Consuming tobacco products, like dip or cigarettes
If you have root damage or dead teeth, you're observing intrinsic damage. Whitening cannot address intrinsic discoloration, but we can use veneers or crowns to improve the appearance of your tooth.

Why Should I Visit My Dentist for Enamel Whitening?

It may sound simpler – and cheaper – to just pick up an over-the-counter teeth whitening kit or a whitening toothpaste.

However, these whitening methods come with a few big drawbacks.

For one thing, over-the-counter dental whitening kits provide short-term results. They also struggle to whiten your teeth to the degree your dentist can provide.

Not to mention, you may unintentionally cause tooth sensitivity by leaving your teeth whitening strips on for too long. In contrast, your dentist's knowledge and training means safer treatment.

Whitening toothpastes often cost more than regular toothpastes, but that price tag doesn't guarantee significant results. You could be tossing away money each time you whiten your teeth with over-the-counter options.

Why Is My Dentist Able to Offer Better Teeth Whitening?

It's all about the enamel! When you choose over-the-counter kits or teeth whitening toothpastes, you're affecting only a shallow layer of your tooth's enamel.

Your dentist, on the other hand, can noticeably whiten your smile by reaching deeper layers. This technique means significant rejuvenation that lasts.

What Options Do You Offer?

Elite Dental Care knows that you have a busy schedule. That's why we feature both at-home and in-office dental whitening treatment options to bleach your enamel.

Safety Tip

Teeth whitening may cause tooth sensitivity or damage. That means you should visit your dentist for a safer bleaching treatment.

We'll give you the results you want with our in-office dental bleaching treatments. In-office treatment is offered at all of our locations; with offices in Jackson, Dyersburg, Germantown, Trenton, and Eads, TN, we're sure to have a location convenient for you.

How Many Visits Does In-Office Teeth Whitening Typically Take?

How Long Will Each In-Office Visit Last?

Typically, each teeth whitening visit will take no longer than an hour.

How Do I Get Started With In-Office Whitening?

Before you become a patient, let's explain the enamel bleaching process.
Before you become a patient, let's explain the enamel bleaching process.
The first step is to visit Elite Dental Care for a consultation. There, we will discuss your bleaching goals and options. We'll also answer all of your tooth whitening questions.
Then, we will schedule your next treatment at our offices in Dyersburg, Germantown, Eads, Trenton, or Jackson.
When you return, we'll start your whitening treatment. We use a teeth whitening gel with hydrogen peroxide to bleach your enamel, and a specialized light to supplement the process.

At-Home Treatment The best of both worlds

How Does At-Home Treatment Work?

At-home whitening uses a less concentrated whitening gel, making it a great choice for sensitive teeth.

The whitening process begins with a visit to your dentist. We'll make an impression of your teeth, so we can create custom whitening trays fitted to your smile.

Next, you'll return to us to pick up your trays and whitening gel. Don't worry, though – we'll make sure they fit precisely before we send you home, and instruct you on how to place the whitening gel inside.

Pencil in 30 minutes each day to wear your trays. Your dentist will tell you how long to follow this course.

How Long Does At-Home Treatment Take?

Instead of fitting us into your life, we fit into yours with at-home whitening. Once you've had your consultation and tray impressions completed, it takes two to three weeks of daily wear to complete your whitening treatment.

Will I See Instant Results?

A brighter smile is coming! You will likely see instant results with dental bleaching.

Does Teeth Whitening Hurt?

You may feel some sensitivity from teeth whitening treatment. Though most patients will not need any pain relief, you can always talk to your dentist about options to alleviate your discomfort or anxiety.

Are There Any Possible Side Effects?

Your dentist will walk you through possible side effects during your consultation. They include:

  • Gum irritation
  • Unintended discoloration
  • Internal tooth changes
  • Teeth sensitivity

I Have a Crown – How Will the Bleach Affect It?

Crowns aren't changed by bleaching with hydrogen peroxide like your enamel. To match the new shade of your natural teeth, your dentist may need to place a new crown.

How Often Should I Bleach My Enamel?

Teeth whitening can create long-lasting results. After your initial visits, you'll likely only have to return about once a year for your hydrogen peroxide treatment.

How Can I Maintain My Whitened Enamel?

Maintain teeth whitening results for longer by:

  • Refraining from using tobacco products, like cigarettes or dip
  • Cutting down on soda, tea, coffee, and red wine
  • Brushing and flossing your teeth regularly
  • Attending your routine dentist appointments
