Dental Implants
Gaps left by missing teeth can compromise the health, comfort, and appearance of your smile.
Dental implants are a tooth replacement solution that provides the look, feel, and function of natural teeth.
What can the world-class implant dentistry of Elite Dental Care serving Greater Jackson, TN, do for you?
The Benefits of Dental Implants
No-Slip Security
Implants are the only treatment that will actually replace the missing tooth roots. Implants naturally integrate with your jawbone and provide a secure base for a permanent crown, bridge, or denture. Because the implants will replace your dental roots, your new teeth will never slip or move out of place.
Long-Term Durability
With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last for over 40 years. While the restoration attached to the implant may require replacement, the implant itself provides as close to a permanent solution as possible.
Jawbone Retention
Tooth loss leads to jawbone recession. As your bone atrophies, it can alter your facial structure and increase the likelihood of further tooth loss. Unlike traditional dentures, dental implants send regenerative signals to the jawbone, keeping it strong and healthy.

Dental Implants Testimonial: David Nelson
At Elite Dental Care, we can provide dental implants to patients seeking a secure, durable solution for missing teeth. If you are a candidate for this procedure, we can perform the surgery at your first appointment and will then place your final restoration after your jaw has fully healed in about three months. Our patient David Nelson explains how the choice to receive an implant-supported restoration has improved his quality of life.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are titanium posts that provide support for dental restorations such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. Implants are surgically placed through the gums and into the jaw. Because they are made from biocompatible materials, implants naturally fuse with the jawbone over time, making implant dentistry a solution that allows you to:
- Eat all of your favorite foods
- Smile freely
- Speak with confidence
At Elite Dental Care, we provide every step of dental implant treatment, from placement to restoration. Dr. Clint Buchanan has taken extensive courses in this treatment, and Dr. Mark Harper has completed master-level training. You can undergo your treatment at one of our five convenient offices in Jackson, Trenton, Dyersburg, Eads, and Germantown, TN.
Why Titanium?
Titanium is biocompatible. This phrase means that the material will fuse to your jawbone just like your natural tooth roots would. Titanium is a strong material that is also light, making it a comfortable dental restoration option.

How Are Dental Implants Placed? A Treatment Timeline
Traditional dental implants require at least two different surgeries, separated by four to six months of healing time: one to place the implants and one to attach the abutments (the small metal pieces that connect the implant and the restoration). Because each patient heals differently, exact time frames will differ. The typical treatment timeline looks something like this:
At Elite Dental Care, we offer personalized care for your comprehensive dental implant treatment.
How to Care for Your Dental Implants
Your dental implant can last a lifetime with the proper care, and the attached restoration can last 10 to 15 years. To preserve the integrity of your implant, follow these tips:
Use a Soft-Bristled Toothbrush
A soft nylon brush can help you gently clean your teeth without compromising your dental implant with harsh abrasive materials. Brush twice a day like you usually would, and make sure to scrub around your prosthetic.
Floss Daily
Whether you have an implant or not, flossing is essential for good oral health. However, it becomes even more critical with a prosthetic in place. Plaque can quickly build around your implants, leading to various oral hygiene problems.
Be Careful With Hard/Sticky Foods
With dental implants, patients have no limitations regarding food options. However, while the prosthetic our dentists place is strong, it is not indestructible. Carefully eat hard and sticky foods to avoid damaging your prosthetic.
Avoid Smoking
The healing process for dental implants is about six months. Smoking can harm the osseointegration process and cause problems with the soft tissue healing around the titanium post.

Dental Implant Candidacy Considerations
Bone Density
All candidates must have a minimum amount of healthy bone tissue to support the implants and their attached restorations. Dr. Buchanan or Dr. Harper will carefully examine your jaw using x-rays and 3-D cone beam scans. If you have suffered significant bone recession, your doctor may recommend a bone graft or sinus lift to restore your ability to support implants.
Oral & Overall Health
To qualify for implant treatment, patients should be in good oral health. If you have oral health issues like gum disease or a severely decayed tooth, these will need to be addressed before our dentists can safely perform dental implant surgery. Additionally, patients must be free of any health concerns like uncontrolled diabetes that may affect their body's ability to heal after surgery.
Types of Dental Implants

Traditional Dental Implants
Traditional implants may be the right choice for you if you wish to replace a missing tooth or teeth with an implant-supported crown or bridge and you have sufficient jawbone tissue.

Mini Dental Implants
Mini implants have a smaller diameter when compared to traditional implants. If you have suffered jaw recession, they can sometimes eliminate the need for bone grafting.

All-on-4®
Our doctors will often use the All-on-4® method to secure permanent dentures immediately after surgery. With this technique, they will place four posts: two upright and two at a slight angle.

TeethXpress®
TeethXpress® can provide stability for a full denture in as little as one appointment. For this treatment, your dentist will place four to six implant posts.
Implant-Supported vs. Traditional Dentures
When many of us think about dentures, we picture fake-looking sets of false teeth that can easily come loose. However, the days of inconvenient, cumbersome, embarrassing dentures are over. Now, thanks to implant dentistry, a full set of dentures can be securely attached to as few as four dental implants to restore the look, feel, and function of natural teeth.
Implant-supported dentures are far superior to removable dentures for several reasons:
Dental implants make dentures more secure.
Unlike removable dentures that use suction and adhesive materials to stay in place, implant-supported dentures are attached to the bone beneath your gums, so there is practically zero risk of them coming loose or falling out.
Dental implants don't require adhesive.
Patients with removable dentures regularly complain about the uncomfortable, bad-tasting adhesive materials required to keep their restorations in place. When your dentures are attached to implants, you can say goodbye to the adhesive.
Dental implants are better for your jaw.
The jawbone requires constant stimulation to stay strong and healthy. When a tooth is lost, that stimulation disappears, and the bone starts to atrophy. Traditional dentures do nothing to address this problem, but implants connect with the bone and replicate the stimulation provided by natural tooth roots.
Implant-supported restorations look more natural.
Removable restorations are difficult to keep in place, and this can show when you speak or chew. But the support of dental implants prevents this issue, and implant-supported restorations produced at our dental offices throughout the Jackson, TN, area are incredibly lifelike.

Sedation Dentistry Makes Implant Surgery Stress-Free
Are you interested in dental implants, but nervous about the idea of oral surgery? We help even the most anxious patients relax during implant placement through sedation dentistry.
Elite Dental Care is one of the few providers of sedation dentistry services in Western Tennessee. In fact, we consider sedation to be a signature service of our practice. Each of our doctors has completed post-graduate education with the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation, and we have incorporated sedation into over 5,000 procedures.
We primarily implement the sedation technique known as oral conscious sedation, in which one of our doctors will prescribe a sedative for you to take before your procedure. These medications put you in a state of "twilight sleep" in which you will remain responsive but relaxed. In most cases, patients have no memory of treatment when they receive oral conscious sedation. If you choose to use oral conscious sedation, you should have friend or family member drive you to and from your appointment.
For more information on how sedation can help you experience the long-term benefits of implant dentistry, contact our practice today.
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?
The cost of dental implants will range from person to person depending on preparatory procedures, materials, the prosthetic, and other factors. For example, a single tooth implant will cost less than a full-arch replacement since the implants are priced individually. We can calculate your custom cost during your consultation at one of our greater Jackson, TN, offices and help you explore financing solutions. All five of our offices accept CareCredit® financing to help budget the cost into monthly payments.
"Job Well Done!" 5-Star Reviews from Anxious Patients
I have horrible Dental anxiety, and for my very first visit, the whole staff has made me feel comfortable. They didn't look down on me because I didn't have perfect teeth, they are always very friendly, very courteous, and very understanding of my fear of the dentist. The sedation, combined with their always upbeat and super friendly demeanors about everything, always make me feel welcome. I never thought I would not dread going to the dentist, I'm not going to say I enjoy it, but it's definitely not the worst thing in the world for me anymore.

I hate the dentist. It's not their fault. I had bad experiences when I was a kid that put me off seeing a dentist as an adult. It's been 17 years of fear, anxiety and stubbornness to get me back in to see someone. Plus I have a cracked tooth. I was greeted without judgement by friendly faces. Discussion of sedation dentistry was suggested since I was apprehensive about having any procedure. When the appt rolled around to have the tooth removed, I was skeptical and ready to run for Canada, I took the medication provided by the dental office one hour before my appointment. Everything after that is a blur. I woke up enough to know I was going home. JOB WELL DONE ELITE ...JOB WELL DONE!!!
