Types of Dental Crowns We Offer

Porcelain Crown

Porcelain

A tooth restoration made from this strong, high-quality ceramic material can be customized to match the shade of your surrounding teeth better than other kinds of dental crowns, maintaining your smile's natural look. They are an excellent choice to replace highly visible front teeth.

Zirconia Crown

Zirconia

This super-strong material is known for its damage-resistant properties. Crowns and dental bridges made of zirconia are an excellent choice to repair back teeth, which do a lot of grinding and chewing. In fact, they can withstand more than 300 times the force of the average human bite. Additionally, ultra-durable zirconia can be crafted to look virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

E-Max Crown

IPS e.max®

This state-of-the-art material is constructed from pressed ceramic layers and is considered by some dentists to be even stronger and more lifelike than porcelain or zirconia. The e.max restoration reflects light like a natural tooth and is extremely chip-resistant. Plus, IPS e.max is metal-free, which is good for patients with metal allergies.

Porcelain-to-Metal Crown

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal

These durable dental crowns have a metal interior that's covered with a porcelain coating, which allows the shade to be customized to match your natural teeth. They are considered strong choices for front and back teeth. However, it is possible that a dark line where the metal interior meets your gum line will be visible.

Ready to Improve Your Smile?

No matter what kind of dental crown you choose, your bite function and smile can be dramatically improved once new crowns are secured over damaged teeth. Why live with mouth pain, a compromised smile, chewing issues, and difficulty speaking? Send a message to our dentists in Jackson, Dyersburg, Germantown, and Trenton, TN, or give us a call. Chances are we can give you something to smile about.

I had a small cavity between my front two teeth which immediately had me thinking that you would be able to tell that there was a filling. I was so nervous and like always they were reassuring and calming during my visit... I left without that cavity and you cannot even tell!!! I am very very happy with my latest visit. They are awesome!

Costs and Financing

How Much Do Crowns Cost?

Your final cost will depend on the type and number of caps you need, as well as the kind of preparatory treatment your Elite Dental Care doctor recommends. We accept many dental insurance plans, and most policies will contribute to at least some of the cost of your crown, as well as that of related procedures like root canal therapy. Our knowledgeable staff will do everything they can to secure maximum coverage.

What If I Don't Have Insurance?

If you don't have insurance or can't immediately afford out-of-pocket costs not covered by insurance, we offer CareCredit financing to patients who qualify. We believe no one in Jackson, Dyersburg, Trenton, Germantown, or their surrounding communities should be denied superior dental care because of budget limitations. Our friendly staff will happily go over your insurance and financing options.

Placing a Dental Crown

A Closer Look at the Procedure Dental Crowns Step-by-Step

Placing a traditional dental crown usually requires two appointments.
Placing a traditional dental crown usually requires two appointments.

Anesthesia

Before the procedure begins, your dentist will administer a numbing anesthetic to the treatment area so you don't feel any discomfort. Sedation is available if you experience extreme anxiety or suffer from conditions such as arthritis that make it difficult to sit for long periods.

Reshaping Your Affected Tooth

Once you are comfortable, your dentist will reshape each affected tooth by removing damaged or decayed tissue. Our doctors are very conservative and never remove more enamel than necessary. The remaining healthy portion of your tooth is what will be covered by a permanent crown during your second appointment.

Creating Your Permanent Crown

Next, we'll use state-of-the-art technology to take a precise digital impression of your tooth. In some cases, we are able to create crowns in-house thanks to our E4D CAD/CAM milling system. Other cases require sending your impression to a top-quality off-site lab where your permanent crown will be custom-made. This takes about two weeks.

Temporary Crown Placement

Before your first appointment ends, your dentist will give you a temporary crown to cover the remainder of the treated tooth until your permanent restoration is ready. You'll be given special instructions to keep your temporary crown clean, intact, and in place.

Placement of Your Permanent Crown

After your permanent crown is delivered to your nearest Elite Dental Care location, you'll come in for your second appointment. First, we'll give you some numbing anesthetic. Then, we will remove the temporary crown and firmly secure your customized, natural-looking permanent crown.

Recovery

Recovery after crown placement takes very little time. In most cases, patients can eat, drink, and smile normally immediately after the treatment. Once the anesthesia wears off, you might notice very slight gum and jaw sensitivity, but that should fade quickly.

I Have Missing Teeth Tell Me More about Implant-Supported Crowns

missing tooth, toothless, teeth, dental, dentist, tooth extraction

When are implant-supported crowns used?

This highly effective treatment is used to replace missing or severely damaged teeth. Drs. Harper and Buchanan are extensively trained in this procedure.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are strong titanium posts that are surgically implanted into the jawbone. Each post acts like replacement tooth roots and supports a dental crown, denture, or dental bridge.

How long does it take to receive an implant-supported crown?

Two surgeries and healing periods over four to six months are required for this treatment, but many patients agree it is worth the investment of both time and money to improve their oral health, appearance, and quality of life.

This place is absolutely amazing.  I was referred here by a friend 5 or 6 years ago.   Since then I've had root canals, several fillings, and most recently 8 awesome looking crowns on my top teeth.   Everyone who works there is always super nice ,  and they go out of their way to make sure I'm comfortable and feel no pain.  I can't say enough .
